Key activities of Nina include the application of biomimicry and circular economy frameworks in especially design and architecture, stimulating a material oriented and cross-disciplinary design practice, activating waste-to-resource streams.

In addition to biomimicry and circular economy, Nina has a specialist background in product design, service design, and interior architecture as well as experimental material research in biopolymers and biocomposites.

Michel’s key activities are centred around engineering and design. Biomimicry, circular economy and permaculture are the typical lenses he uses to solve problems. An experienced facilitator and keynote speaker, he loves creating the space for participants to come with their insights and ideas.

In addition to biomimicry and circular economy, Michel has a specialist background in mechanical engineering. He is a a bit of a six-blade knife (a ‘potato’ as Norwegians would put it) and has experience from both corporate and startup worlds.

Other ventures by the BiomimicryNorway team

Mycela - Growing next-generation materials based on fungal solutions

Nina’s main venture outside of BiomimicryNorway is the startup Mycela. True to her passion for bio-based material, Nina grows together with her 2 co-founders insulation panels made of mycelium and various waste streams! Not only are the panels naturally fire proof, sound and heat insulating, they are also very beautiful!

SquareRoot - Software solutions to support biodiversity

Michel’s main venture outside of BiomimicryNorway is the tech startup SquareRoot. They develop software solutions for the landscape sector, helping professionals to find the right plants for the right place based on what is produced locally, and helping them collaborate across the value chain. Their next software solution will help companies assess their impact on biodiversity and assess the quality of their mitigation and compensation plans for nature losses.
