Bio-based material workshop

Learn how to create bio-plastics and bio-composites using exclusively abundant natural resources.

We start by teaching basic recipes, going through the roles of different ingredients. Further you will learn how to use this knowledge for experimentation beyond the recipes.
We do not only teach how to make your own material samples using abundant natural resources, we also dive into the alternative material journeys these materials represent. For example in the case of algae-based bioplastics: what is the material journey from algae in the sea, to a bioplastic in your home? How does it compare to the journey of a fossil fuel-based plastic?
In addition we provide guidance in waste-to-resource material creation. For example using coffee grounds, sawdust, fruit peels, eggshells, seafood leftover, etc to develop bio-composites. We aim to address and convert the notion of waste into that of a resource.
