Academia & Education

Biomimicry and Circulab are fantastic tools to stimulate student’s creativity, and imagine your students creating their own bio-based materials to prototype with! Challenging conventional ways of thinking and bringing new design lenses and expertise to the table, our workshops come in a variety of formats.

Ever since we started back in 2015, we have been offering workshops at schools and universities. We don’t do classic lectures, we activate the students as much as possible, creating a space for them to explore and discover new tools and methods.

You can choose from a 2h workshop to a multi-day course. No matter which way you go, we tailor the workshops to your needs, complementing your program.

We have also been responsible for creating a 4-week module on Sustainable Design for Oslo Met in 2017, and would be happy to repeat that for your school.

The content and expertise we provide includes but is not exempt to:

  • Biomimicry design lenses - introducing the concepts and tools of biomimicry for product design

  • Business modelling for a circular economy

  • Designing for a circular economy - using the tools from Circular Design Guide

  • Biodesign and bio-material creation

We recommend a project-based format, where we start with an introduction to the tools and methods relevant to the participants practise, and an overview of activities. We mentor the students throughout their project - pre-existing or introduced by us - using these tools and methods, while also giving them the space to explore independently. We stay available for coaching, to support the students up to their final project presentations.

If you’re a student and are looking for a mentor / coach for your thesis, we are happy to provide assistance.
